Our showroom and our workshop are located in an old industrial building in Hanau, near Frankfurt.

Lappalainen designs and creates mobiles and lighting objects such as lamps and candleholders. We welcome special orders in different sizes and dimensions.

Shipping
The buyer is liable for all shipping charges. For larger items we can make the shipping arrangements by carrier for you. We sell worldwide.

Lappalainen is Rivka, who studied Art History, and Wilfrid, a classically trained Silversmith.

We live and work together in a historic brick factory building near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Originally, we were a classic silver and metalsmithing workshop.

Inspired by the artist Alexander Calder, Wilfrid designed and built a mobile for our living room, just for fun. Our friends and visitors liked it so much that they wanted one too. Our first orders came about this way.

After a while, we perfected our designs and work process to create high quality, handmade mobiles in larger quantities to accomodate the growing orders.

Thanks to magazines, bloggers and social media, our costumer base is now worldwide.

And so, our Silversmithing workshop has grown into what Lappalainen is today.

Production Process
Each Mobile is made by hand from start to finish.

The shapes are drawn, and cut out, then sanded on a grinding machine. The wire is hammered straight on an anvil and bent into shape with special pliers. The pieces are then soldered and polished.

The mobile is then hung in our workshop for final adjustments to make sure the balance is perfect, before being carefully packaged.

Custom orders
We are more than happy to create custom mobiles!

Just contact us if you would like a different color or size.

Orders have been made up to 3.5 meters (approx. 11.5 ft.) for larger spaces, such as hotels.

We do these often, so don´t hesitate to ask!

Gift wrapping and packaging
Mobiles are shipped in a sleek, sturdy white box with our logo embossed on the lid. They are protected by layers of foam.

If this is a gift, please make sure to note it on your order and we will omit the invoice.
